Las cruches enterradas, Bogotá. Colombia
Las cruches enterradas, Bogotá. Colombia

For several weeks in October and November 2017, I observed the activities and events that occurred from 5:30 in the morning to 5:30 in the evening at the busy corner of Avenida Jimenez and Calle 5 in Bogotá, Colombia.

From observation posts in nearby cafes and on the street, I compiled lists of what I observed. The result of my observation was a performance for three voices which was presented at the University National in Bogotá.

Points of Departure

On May 6, starting at 9 pm, I’ll present Points of Departure a 12 hour 10 minute performance of poems. This performance will be part of “Words & [ ] — a Durational Conference of Art & Thought” a 56-hour (French/English bilingual) event that will take place at The Darling Foundry May 6 – 8 2016. The conference will feature round-the-clock live programming of 100 interdisciplinary performative presentations.

For more information about the conference, please see here.

Points of Departure

Each day for a period of one-year, from February 11th 2010 to February 10th 2011, I composed a poem for the project Points of Departure. Over that period, 256 poems were completed.

For the performance, I present the results of this yearlong project in a single uninterrupted reading of a duration of 12 hours and 10 minutes. Every two minutes, in chronological order, I present the poem composed for the corresponding day. For those days for which there was no completed text, I remain silent for two minutes

PHONÉSIE : POÉSIE ET ART SONORE

VERNISSAGE /JEUDI 14 JANVIER, 20H

Canada Council

This series of texts on the Canada Council’s proposed funding model will appear bi-weekly from September 15.

On consultation

The Canada Council chose Thomas Corriveau’s diptych Emile et Vincent for the cover of its publication « Conversations for change: How a dialogue with the artistic community informed the new financial model ». The publication came out this last spring, and in 14 pages it provides an overview of the Council’s recent formal dialogue with various sectors of the Canadian arts community concerning the state of the arts in Canada.

Corriveau’s work seems an odd choice for such a publication. Continue reading Canada Council
